Several people have been reported to have sustained injuries on Thursday night, following a tanker explosion that occurred in Ikeja, Lagos state. Three people have confirmed dead as a result of the explosion, ChannelTV reports.
The impact of the explosion was felt inside buildings in the government residential area (GRA) axis of Ikeja.
The cause of the explosion was as a result of leakage from the tanker according to eyewitness reports.
The explosion is said to have occurred around Sheraton Hotel area, located on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way in Ikeja. There is a petrol station not too far from that axis.
Officers of the fire service are currently on ground trying to put out the fire. Also, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and security operatives have been deployed to the area.
