SFH Shares Innovative Ideas to Ensure Sustainable Growth for Key Populations led CSOs In Oyo State

The Global Fund Cluster for MARPs Intervention-3 (GF CLUMIN-3) Exit Meeting with Stakeholders organized by Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) and the Society for Family Health (SFH) with support from the Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was held on Frbruary 13, 2018.

The meeting which was held at the popular Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Ibadan, brought key stakeholders across Oyo state together to deliberate and share their views on the Global Fund supported CLUMIN 3 project.

Present at the epoch making event were the Representative of the Oyo State Ministry of Health, Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA), Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sport, FHI 360, Society for Family Health (SFH), CiSHAN Oyo State Chapter and other Implementing Partners working on area of HIV prevention and treatment in the State.

Society for Family Health Ibadan Key Populations Specialist Bako, John Chukwudi spoke on the topic entitled Innovative Ideas to Ensure Sustainable Growth for Key Populations led CSOs In Oyo State.

He highlighted the achievements of the project in the state which he said commenced in 2016 with the identification , selection and assessment of Key Populations led CBOs/CSOs using Participatory Assessment and Organisational Framework tool.

The Key Populations Specialist enlisted number of innovative ideas which the Society for Family Health will be adopting to ensure continuous and effective engagement and functioning of the three civil society organisations whose capacity were built under the project by ECEWS in the state.

He maintained during his presentation that SFH will support the organisations in understanding who their potential donors are; what are their financial priorities and strategies, and how to successfully become one of their partners.

The Society for Family Health will build the capacity of the CSOs to develop proposals, concept notes, track and keep donors database, he said.

He will mentor them on how to write good program reports and abstracts for conferences.

SFH will not relent in his responsibilities to support the CSOs to develop a strong financial plan and effective fundraising skills which will be applied as a continuous process to raise funds from other funding agencies, he said.

The organisations according to Bako, John Chukwudi will be encouraged to conduct background research and develop a long term plan capable of tackling problems and offering concrete solutions.

“SFH will ensure that the organisations have a clear vision based on existing needs”, he pointed out.

Membership contributions to gain more financial sustainability will be strongly encouraged.

He concludes his session by thanking all present for their supports and contributions to the successful implementation of the CLUMIN 3 project which was placed under his supervision.
