Nigerians took to social media to battle with Reuters for describing Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as a ‘No-Nonsense Woman’.
Reuters today came out with a story on former Nigerian Minister of Finance who is set to assume office as the first black and first woman to become the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.
The headline has long been deleted and changed after Nigerians fired back at the News platform asking why the use of “No nonsense Nigerian Woman’ instead of her real name which is known globally.
In a related “corrected headline” Reuters wrote;
“CORRECTION: Former Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is set to make history as the head of the WTO”.
‘We are deleting a previous tweet which omitted her name and previous title’.
Reuters claimed the use of No Nonsense Nigerian Woman which the news platform was called out for by Nigerians was done in an error.
