The President of the United States Donald Trump has described and referred to the COVID-19 Coronavirus as Chinese virus – description that the Chinese authorities and people do not want to be known with. At the outset of the coronavirus outbreak, the virus was previously referred to as Wuhan virus by the media, but the name Wuhan was later dropped for coronavirus and later COVID-19. This latest description by Trump no doubt will create tension between Beijing and Washington.

However, Wahan the central Chinese city that was the former epicenter where the viral illness was first detected in early November was down to just one new case of Coronavirus virus on Tuesday. Only China, Italy and Iran have more infections than Spain, where the number increased by roughly 20%, to 9,191 and fatalities rose to 309, according to the Spanish Health Ministry.

Trump had previously called the disease a “foreign virus,” tweeted on Tuesday: “The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus.” Trump has previously retweeted a supporter who called it a “China virus.”
