Just In: More New Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed In Lagos, Index Case in Nigeria Free of Virus

The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, has confirmed four new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Lagos.

This brings the total number of cases confirmed in the country to 12. The Health Commissioner confirmed the new case at a news briefing on Thursday.

The Italian, who is the index COVID-19 case in Nigeria, is now free of the virus, Lagos State has declared. The Commissioner of Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, however said he has to undergo a test before he can be finally declared negative.

Meanwhile, China has reported no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases for the first time since the the pandemic began, marking a major turning point in the global battle to contain Covid-19.

France has received 30 million face masks to help healthcare workers treat patients infected by the coronavirus, the French Minister for Health Olivier Véran said. He also advised against their use by the general public
