A commercial driver lost his life on Saturday morning, when a tanker loaded with petroleum product rammed into a Lagos-bound bus, at the Ogun State end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to information made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, the driver of the tanker travelling from Lagos on top speed hit a barrier and rammed into the bus.
The incident occurred at about 9.25 a.m. as the bus driver lost his life on the spot.
The PRO said, “The accident involved a tanker laden with ethanol with registration number AKD 650 XQ and a Mazda commercial bus with registration number BWR 515 XA.
“The tanker laden with ethanol coming from Lagos hit the barrier and rammed into bus going into Lagos. Only the driver of the bus presumed dead for now.”
He said that the police had handed over the corpse of the dead victim to his relatives.
