Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq said that over 2.6 million households had benefited from the 20,000 Coronavirus palliative given by the federal government of Nigeria.
The minister made this known in Abuja while speaking to reporters at the presidential task force media briefing on Thursday.
According to the Minister, over 11million vulnerable persons have been identified in 35 states yet to benefit from the palliative measure. 2.6 million households are from the FCT, Nasarawa, Katsina and Anambra states.
Farouq also said the ministry is working seriously to cover additional 1 million households subsequently. The minister said that there is no favoritism in the palliative support as people raised concerns through social media on how authorities were able to arrive at the number and the modalities and criteria used in selecting the 11 million people on the project.
